Hello Novice division tryouts and fans!
With the 2010 season just a few weeks away, I thought it might be a good opportunity to make a few suggestions to this year's tryouts.
- Dont wait to start getting in shape. Start now if you haven't already.
- Train at night if possible between the hours of 6 and 8 pm as this is when we will be regularly practicing.
- Jog or run as much as possible to build your cardiovascular system and legs.
- Make sure you have a comfortable pair of football cleats. Check the fit on old cleats or start breaking in new ones.
- Start thinking about position specific training for your body type and ability and drill accordingly. (think footwork)
As a "heads up," also keep in mind that as part of the evaluation process, we will be timing all of the tryouts in various objective tests which may include the following:
- 40 yard dash
- Shuttle drill
- Tire drag
- Distance Run
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns related to the Novice Division. My goal is to help the kids be as prepared as possible for the upcoming season and I will monitor this thread up until the start of the season.
